Roma’s

Monday, August 18th, 2008

For my mother’s 51st birthday, we decided to try the Canal District’s newest restaurant, Roma’s.  The restaurant is located on the corner of Harrison and Harding Street where The Blackstone Bakery and Deli was located. It is owned by the same family as the old Union Station restaurant.  I made reservations for 8 on a Wednesday for Saturday night.  I am glad we did this because there was a line out the door waiting for a table.  I thought that the atmosphere was great.  The noise level was kind of loud but mostly just conversation by the surrounding tables, not to mention my father is always the loudest person in any room.  The food was great!  I ordered the Chicken Marsala, which came out steaming hot, just how I like it.  My only complaint would be the service.  Our waitress at often times seemed flustered.  We ordered some garlic bread which didn’t come out until we were done our meal.  The prices were very reasonable, $16 for the most expensive plate.  The best feature of this restaurant is the BYOB.  They provided us with all the glasses, ice, mixer’s etc.  It made the night that less expensive.  Overall, it was a great dining experience.
